The Great Barrow Community Shop is well on its way in terms of the groundwork construction and services being installed. The steel supports and roof are in place and the next phase will see the concrete floor be set down, followed the erection of the walls. The premises will at that point be a closed building and further work can be concentrated on the interior of the premises.

The GBCS committee are still in the process of recruiting volunteers to work in the shop and Post office on a regular basis. If you feel you can offer some of your time to support the shop by assisting in serving customers, replenishing shelves, administration, working in the café or on the Post office service counter, please be in touch. Training will be given to enable everyone to feel confident in their specific roles.

Below is a timetable of the proposed opening hours of the shop, please note that these may be subject to some changes. If you feel you can offer your time to help out during one of these sessions please contact barrowshop@gmail.com indicating which day and session would suit you.

There is plenty more work to complete on the build of the shop so we are at this point unable to confirm an opening date. We hope to have a ‘viewing day’ when works are more or less complete to enable those who wish to have a peek at the interior layout of the shop before it opens. Further updates on this will follow!

Thank you to all those have supported this project so far by offering assistance both now and in the near future.
