Great Barrow is an inspiring village and has a wealth of artists in the village with their wonderful works often on show at events throughout the year as well as some pieces on display at the White Horse Pub and the Blue Bell café.

JILLY SHIRES

Is an abstract artist and captures moments, memories, past and present .

All consuming, erratic, passion tinged with shadows and light. Dreams and life exposed laid bare for all to view. Painting is a way of conversing or telling a story ,starting is easy ending is impossible, she has to be satisfied that every part of her mind, heart and soul is entwined together on canvas. Her medium is acrylic matt metallic and spray paint. She doesn’t plan her paintings but lets them organically evolve working loose with fingers, brushes, spray cans and water.

Bridget Greenwood

Bridget is an abstract landscape painter, working in Acrylics from her studio in Great Barrow.  She went to art school in the 1980’s but left art behind and didn’t touch a paintbrush again until lockdown. Since then she has sold many paintings and has accumulated collectors from all over the globe.  Her work is in various galleries around the UK.
