There has been a reported  case of avian flu locally. As the village is within 3km of the the source of the outbreak CWAC officers have been going door to door to establish who has any pet birds – chickens or other, so they can give them further information. They can then recommend measures to help keep birds safe. Their advice regarding dogs is to keep them on the lead in case they come into contact with any wild bird remains that could carry the virus. 

If you spots any dead birds on walks please leave them alone.
